REG 02.30.03 – Residence For Matriculation and Graduation

1. To be eligible for a bachelor’s degree, a student must be enrolled in a degree program at NC State, must have completed at least 25% of credit hours required for graduation through courses offered by NC State, and must have earned at least 30 of the last 45 hours of credit through NC State courses. Individual departments and/or colleges may have additional residence requirements.  Exceptions to the requirement that 30 of the last 45 hours of credit must come through NC State courses must be approved by the college dean after a review of the proportion of major coursework completed by the student with NC State courses.

2. To be eligible for an associate degree, a student must be enrolled in an associate degree program at NC State and must earn the 32 hours of credit through NC State courses.

3. The College of Engineering has a policy that, normally, students seeking to graduate with a Bachelor of Science must earn at least 48 of their last 60 hours of credit through NC State courses.

4. Individual departments and/or colleges that propose to require additional residence requirements, not already approved by the Provost’s Office, shall submit them for review and approval by the Provost.
