REG 02.30.03 – Residence For Matriculation and Graduation

1. To be eligible for a bachelor’s degree, a student must be enrolled in a degree program at NC State, must have completed at least 25 percent of credit hours required for graduation through courses offered by NC State, and must have earned at least 30 of the last 45 hours of credit through NC State courses. Individual departments and/or colleges may have additional residence requirements.

2. This requirement shall be effective for all new freshman and transfer students entering NC State in the summer or fall of 1993 and thereafter. Individual departments and/or colleges that propose to require additional residence requirements, not already approved by the Provost’s Office, shall submit them for review and approval. Exceptions to the University requirements based upon unusual circumstances may be recommended by the college dean for approval by the Provost.

3. The College of Engineering has a policy that transfer students normally must earn at least 48 of their 60 hours of credit at NC State while enrolled as degree candidates.
