1.  INTRODUCTION

The Department of Management, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (MIE) in NC State University’s College of Management seeks to recruit and retain top scholars who are actively involved in their profession, university, and community.  Yearly performance reviews of teaching, research, and service are conducted for all faculty members to ensure that standards of quality consistent with the mission of a major research university are maintained and strengthened.  In addition to these annually conducted departmental reviews, NC State University and the UNC system require additional periodic reviews of tenured faculty.

This rule describes procedures used by the Department of Management, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship to comply with NCSU REG05.20.04 – Post Tenure Review of Faculty.  The Department Head is responsible for assuring that procedures set forth in NC State University’s current PTR rules NCSU REG05.20.04 – Post Tenure Review of Faculty and in this rule are followed in a consistent manner.  To the extent of any inconsistency, the NCSU Academic Tenure Policy and Post Tenure Review Regulation controls.

2.2 Meeting Schedule

The PTRC Chair will meet with the Department Head early in the fall semester to determine who will be reviewed during that year and what the schedule will be.  The review normally will be held in the spring, after required materials from each faculty member to be reviewed have been assembled, as set forth in section 5.2 of the current PTR rules at NCSU REG05.20.04 – Post Tenure Review of Faculty.

The PTRC Chair, in coordination with the Department Head, will schedule meetings and prepare and transmit reports from the committee to the Head and to the faculty member(s) being reviewed.  Upon receiving the written assessment of the PTRC from the Department Head, the faculty being reviewed will acknowledge receipt by signature.
