1. Students may not use recording devices in the classroom without explicit prior permission of the instructor. If permission is granted, there must also be no member of the class who objects. Instructor and class permission is not required when an accommodation notification from the Disability Resource Office (DRO) has been received by the instructor, which identifies a student that requires the use of a recording device. However, the instructor may consult with the DRO about prohibiting the use of any recording device when it would inhibit free discussion and free exchange of ideas in the classroom.
