1. INTRODUCTION
INVISTA Corporation established the INVISTA Professorship to support a professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at North Carolina State University. The name of the department was later changed to Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. This rule describes the procedure to award this professorship and is in agreement with the terms of the endowment.
2. PROCEDURE
2.1. The Head of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering will appoint a selection committee consisting of at least three tenured NC State faculty members who are full professors with the majority being Professors of Distinction.
2.2. Full professors with a full time appointment working in some area of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering may be considered for this named professorship.
2.3. The committee will recommend a recipient to the Dean based on the applicable criteria set forth in NCSU REG05.20.17 – Professorships of Distinction. Recommendation of the nominee is decided by majority vote of the committee.
2.4. The income from this endowment may be used for partial salary support and related research support for the INVISTA Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. The amounts allocated to salary and research will be determined by the Department Head in consultation with the named professor.
2.5. If the incumbent retires or resigns, the funds from this endowment can be used for the recruitment of a new named professor.
2.6. The Dean will inform the Chancellor and Provost of the award.
