2. POST TENURE REVIEW COMMITTEE (PTRC)

2.1.2 A faculty member may elect to be reviewed by committee members at or above her/his rank.  If fewer than three committee members meet these criteria, the school head, in consultation with the PTRC and the individual being reviewed, shall request that the dean appoint faculty members from allied departments in such number as to provide a group of three members to serve as the PTRC for the review.

2.1.3 The PTRC will select its chair by a simple majority vote. The Chair serves for one academic year.

2.2 Meeting Schedule

2.2.1 The PTRC chair and school head will meet early in the fall semester to determine the schedule for faculty reviews for the academic year.  The formal review will be held in the spring after the school has assembled the required materials from each faculty member to be reviewed as set forth in section 5.2 of university NCSU REG05.20.04 – Post Tenure Review of Faculty.

2.2.2 Reports of the PTRC must be forwarded to the school head by February 12 (or the next business day) to facilitate completion of reviews by the school head and forwarding to the College dean by March 1 as required in NCSU RUL 05.68.71 – College of Humanities and Social Sciences Post Tenure Review of Faculty.

2.2.3 The PTRC chair will schedule all meetings, coordinate with the school head, and prepare and transmit assessments and voting records from the PTRC to the head.

3. DOCUMENTATION PROVIDED TO THE PTRC

The faculty member must provide to the PTRC the documentation as set forth in section 5.2 of university.  Faculty members are permitted at their discretion to include additional materials in the documentation submitted to the PTRC, including copies of publications completed during the current review period, and copies of other evidence supporting accomplishment during the current review period.

4. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

4.1 Faculty members subject to PTR are evaluated on the basis of the expectations specified in their Statement of Faculty Responsibilities (SFRs).

4.2 For each realm of responsibility specified in the faculty member’s SFR, the PTRC and the School Head determine whether the faculty member meets expectations, does not meet expectations, or exceeds expectations relative to the percentage of the faculty member’s workload that the SFR assigns to that realm of responsibility. Based on these assessments, the PTRC and the School Head will also make an overall determination of whether the faculty member’s performance meets expectations, does not meet expectations, or exceeds expectations. The determinations of the PTRC will be based on a simple majority vote.

4.3 Consistent with UNC Policy 400.3.3.1[G] – Guidelines on Performance Review of Tenured Faculty, findings of exceeds expectations will be reserved for faculty who have demonstrated exemplary performance during the review period.
