1. Purpose

1.1 To minimize conflict that may be associated with the removal of a tree from campus.

1.2 To ensure that hazard trees are removed for the safety of the campus community.

1.3 To ensure the health, beauty, and safety of all trees on campus.

2. Intent

To provide a means of communication with the campus community regarding tree related work issues.

3. Procedure

3.1 When there are questions regarding the health or safety of a tree, contact the Facilities Customer Service Center at 919-515-2991.

3.2 Tree care decisions are made by Grounds Services and the University Arborist.

3.3 Grounds Services will consult with the NCSU Urban Forest Committee, Campus Planning & Strategic Investment, Campus Operations & Maintenance, Design & Construction, and Building Liaisons for input and feedback regarding the tree care decision.

3.4 The decision will be transmitted by email from Grounds Services to each impacted stakeholder advising of tree removal/extensive care actions.
