  1. ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE REQUIRED TO BE RECOGNIZED

2.1  Chapters of national fraternities and sororities affiliated with National Umbrella Organizations including, but not limited to, the NIC, NPC, NPHC, NALFO, NAPA, or NMGC, are permitted at NC State only if recognized by the Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

2.2  Special interest fraternities or sororities not affiliated with a national umbrella organization  must seek recognition in order to access the privileges, resources, programs and advisement offered by the Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

  1. REQUIREMENTS AND PROCEDURES FOR RECOGNITION

In order to maintain good standing and official recognition as a fraternity or sorority at NC State, a fraternity or sorority must:

3.1  Register annually with Student Involvement as a student organization and comply with the requirements of  REG 11.55.07.and.

(b)        in order for a fraternity or sorority to re-build their membership; or

An exception will not be granted for fraternities or sororities whose chapter GPA falls below a 2.5, or whose members are on Academic Warning/Suspension.

3.3 Maintain good standing with its national/international organization. Fraternities and sororities are not in good standing if their charter has been suspended or terminated.

3.4 Maintain recognition and good standing by one of the following Governing Councils: (a) NPC groups must be recognized by the Panhellenic Association, (b) NIC and like groups must be recognized by the Interfraternity Council unless the group holds dual membership with NPHC or prefers to be a part of the Multicultural Greek Council, (c) NPHC groups must be recognized by the NPHC of NC State, (d) NAPA, NALFO, and NMGC groups must be recognized by the Multicultural Greek Council; membership is open to other fraternities and sororities regardless of national affiliation, provided the local organization meets the Council requirements for membership.
